Alton
Haley
Nov 10, 1956 — May 16, 2024
Goodman
Alton was born on November 10, 1956, to Otto and Mae Nell (Smith) Haley in Georgetown, Mississippi. He was the baby of 12 siblings. His parents, four sisters, and three brothers preceded him in death.
Alton attended the Brushy Creek Middle School in the Brushy Creek Community and graduated from Crystal Springs High School in Crystal Spring, MS. He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Brushy Creek M.B. Church where he remained a member until his death. As a child growing up in his home church, he loved being an usher and singing in the choir.
After graduation from high school, Alton started work at Magnetek Universal Manufacturing in Gallman, MS –where he was employed for several years. He soon decided to follow in his dad's footsteps and became a truck driver.
On Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 1:13 pm surrounded by family and friends, Alton took flight to his Heavenly Home.
Alton lived a full, happy, and blessed life. Although his departure was sudden, God makes no mistakes. The strength, love, and support that he provided for his wife, children, grandchildren, and anyone who came across his path makes his life truly one that can be described by 2 Timothy 4:7-8, which reads: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
He was absolutely loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and friends. He was the person that always stayed connected with family and friends. He will truly be missed.
Alton leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Jacqualine Haley, three daughters, Virginia (Dexter) Harris of Brookhaven, MS, Jamie Nicole (Brandon) Riggs of Hattiesburg, MS, and Ashley Sample of Goodman, MS. Three sons, Don (Stephanie) Carter of Trappe, MD, Roderick Haley of Arabi, LA, and Carlos Sample of Atlanta, GA. Two sisters, Hattie L. Cotton of Chicago, IL and Josephine (Ronald) Graham of St. Louis, MO. Two brothers, Charles Haley and Ray Haley of Inglewood, CA. Two special uncles, Arvester Smith of Jackson, MS and Billy Ray Jones of Crystal Springs, MS. Plus a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends!
