Funeral Program - Ardell Washington
A Time to be Born
Ardell Washington was born on March 6, 1957, to L. C. McKinnis and Almeta Pittman in Simpson County.
A Time to Live
Ardell lived a full life enjoying fishing, cooking, eating at Vowell's with friends and family, but most importantly spending time with his children, grandchildren, siblings and his fishing buddies. Ardell attended Simpson County Schools and earned his GED later in life. Ardell was a hard worker and was employed by Sullivan's Hardware Store for many years, serving as a store manager. He was a custodian at Mendenhall High School and served as Alderman for Ward 3 for several years.
Ardell joined G. Grove church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend D. B. Barnes. Ardell was an active member of G. Grove, serving as an usher, a member of the male chorus, a trustee and on January 21, 2024, he was ordained as a deacon of the church under the leadership of Pastor Clarence Bryant, Jr. Ardell loved leading devotion with singing and powerful prayers. He always prayed for the members of G. Grove, the pastor, and especially for his children, grandchildren, and siblings. While singing in the choir he had one song in particular that he would lead, "It's gonna Rain."
A Time of Homegoing
Ardell passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, September 28, 2025, after an extended illness. He has now fulfilled his purpose here on earth. Ardell's family and friends though they may weep awhile, should rejoice that he is no longer suffering with pain in his earthly body and should thank our Heavenly Father for the life and laughter he shared with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight (8) siblings.
A Time to Mourn
Ardell leaves loved ones behind who will cherish his memory: children, Deidrick, Darrell, Anicia (Jeffery) and Anone; siblings, Janice, Wallace, and Delois (Larry), seven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
