Byron D Gibson Funeral Program

Byron Gibson, born on April 25, 1973, was a beloved father, sibling, and friend who left us on July 24, 2024. Byron's candle went out, but his memory shone brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.

Byron was born to the late Gloria Gibson and the late Howard Gardner, and he was the second oldest of five siblings. He grew up in Magee, Mississippi, and graduated from Magee High School, where he was known for his remarkable talent on the football field. His athletic prowess led him to Co-Lin Community College, where he continued to pursue his passion for the sport.

Byron married Keisha Magee Gibson, and together they had two cherished children: Marquez Gibson, Kira Gibson, and later in life, Byron
Gibson, Jr. with the late Leticia Coleman. Byron's love for his children was evident in every moment he spent with them.

His passions extended beyond the football field; Byron found joy in his passions and profession, trucks, fishing, and embracing life to the fullest. He was known for his vibrant spirit and ability to live each day enthusiastically and joy as his health failed him.

Byron is preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Jean Gibson, and father, Howard Gardner; his grandmother, Bobby Nell Polk; and his great
grandparents, Ed and Mae Morris. He leaves to mourn, his fiancé Kimyetta Magee, children Marquez Gibson, Kira Gibson, and Byron Gibson, Jr.; his siblings, Laura Gibson (Brandon, MS), Nathaniel Gibson, Martina Burkett (Magee, MS), and Monica Gibson (Brandi Ducksworth) Hattiesburg, MS, Howard Gardner, Jr., (Prentiss, MS), his extended bonus siblings, Courtney Polk Womack (Tony Womack), Demetrious Polk of Magee MS; four great aunts, Grant Polk, Mae Nell Mikell, Jacqueline Morris, and Tina Johnson;
one great uncle, Donald Durr; and a host of cousins and friends.

In reflecting on his life, friends and family often recall Byron's infectious laughter, unwavering kindness, and incredible zest for life. When asked, "What will you remember most about Bobby?" They respond with fond memories of his joyous spirit and how he made every moment count.

As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17, it reads, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things become new."
