Mr. Calvin Lavon Lewis was born on October 14, 1946, to the late John and Lula Mae Lewis. He was the fourth of ten children. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dionne Lewis; two brothers, Johnny Lewis and Alvin Lewis; and sister, Mary Lee Lewis.

Accepting Christ at an early age, Calvin joined Mt. Olive C.M.E. Church. He was a dedicated member and served as a steward at Mt. Olive C.M.E.

Calvin was a graduate of JE Johnson High School. His collegiate education was acquired at Prentiss Normal Industrial Institute.

Calvin worked in construction for several years. Upon returning home from working in various states, Calvin began working at Warren Steel in Collins, Mississippi where he retired in 2014. Calvin was an avid deer hunter and a loyal member of the Granby Road/B&F Hunting Club.

Calvin was a devoted father, brother and grandfather until the end. Calvin's memories will forever by cherished by: daughter, Dionna (Pastor Michael O.) Evans; two sons, John H. Lewis of Savannah, Georgia, and Christopher (Camille) Champion of Scottsdale, Arizona; four sisters, Elizabeth (Larry) Gray, Brenda (Mark) Harper, Rose Lewis and Oma Jean Lewis; two brothers, Harry (Zenora) Lewis and Terry (Mattie) Lewis; four grandchildren, Christian Champion, Makiyah Evans, Mariah Evans and Michael O. (MJ) Evans, II; god-granddaughter, Qu'Jewelia Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
