Obituary

CARL OTIS GRAY

Carl Otis Gray was born November 20, 1968, in Jackson, Mississippi to the Carnell Gray and Willie Ruth Mangum. He was the first child born to this union. His parents preceded him in death.

Carl accepted Christ at an early age at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful a member and served there until his death. In 1986, Carl graduated from Magee High School and would go on to attend Copiah-Lincoln Community College at the Wesson Campus. Carl would shortly after meet and marry the love of his life, Sheila Triplett. On January 30th, 1993, the two joined in Holy Matrimony. To their union, two children were born: their daughter, Ashley Gray and son, Carlton Gray.

Carl was a beloved family man, brother and friend. He was a people person who never met a stranger. Known throughout the Mary Grove community as "Bowlegs," with his friendly, pleasant demeanor and welcoming smile, in his presence, you were always in good company. Carl was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. He loved spending quality time and special moments with his grandson, Keyontay (Woogie). There wasn't a bigger fan of the Dallas Cowboys than Carl; always rooting for his favorite team since he was a little boy.

Carl was a very hard and trusted worker and employee. An awesome truck driver, he traveled all over the South, working many years with numerous trucking companies. At the time of his death, he was employed with Borden Milk Company.

Carl leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Sheila Gray; two daughters, Ashely Gray of Magee, Mississippi and Amber Nelson of Jackson, Mississippi; two sons, Carlton Gray of Magee, Mississippi and Ontario Berry of Mendenhall, Mississippi; one grandson, Keyontay Gray of Magee, Mississippi; two brothers, Michael (Daisy) Gray of Magee, Mississippi and Eric (LaTina) Gray of Pearl, Mississippi; two sisters, Sylvia Gray of Richland, Mississippi and Stephanie Gray of Jackson, Mississippi; stepfather, Johnnie Mangum; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
