Brother Carsie Newsome was born June 23, 1936 to the late Walter and Lula Berry Newsome in Simpson County, Mississippi. Carsie was married to the late Katie Lee Forest Newsome for 59 years. Ten children were born to their union. Two daughters, Evelyn Joyce Morris Newsome and Dianne Landing Newsome; one grandson; one great granddaughter; three brothers; and two sisters preceded him in death.

Carsie accepted Christ. He was hard working man. He provided well for his family. He joined Oak Ridge M.B. Church at an early age.

He leaves to cherish his legacy and memory: six sons, Carsie (Patricia) Newsome, Jr., James (Penny) Newsome, Joseph Santell Morris, all of Pinola, Mississippi, Corey (Jackie) Newsome of Flora, Mississippi, Deandre (Kim) Newsome of Magee, Mississippi and Charles (Melissa) Newsome of Canton, Mississippi; three daughters, Hazel (Ray) Smith of Georgetown, Mississippi, Shirley (Bert) Clay of Pinola, Mississippi, and Mary (Gene) Cato of New Hebron, Mississippi; 26 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn (Howard) Magee of Jackson, Mississippi, Jeanette (Dewitt) McDuffy and Dorothy Newsome, both of Brooklyn, New York; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
