Obituary

Chandra Danette (Skiffer) Gayden was the third daughter born to Eddie and Yvonne Skiffer on November 1, 1960. Chandra grew up in D'Lo, Mississippi. She attended and graduated from Mendenhall High School; received her nursing degree from Hinds Community College; and recently obtained her Master's degree in Healthcare Administration from Walden University. She worked in several areas of nursing and held several positions, the last of which was Nurse Manager at Jaquith Nursing Home, Whitfield, Mississippi. The staff and residents of Jaquith loved Chandra and the staff knew her to be a "firm but fair" manager.

Chan, as her family called her, was a precocious and loving child and seemed to find ways to get in and out of trouble. Chandra married Reece Gayden, Jr. in October 1988 and to that union, one child, Amanda Rose was born. Chandra was a good, loving wife and mother. She taught her daughter things about life that mothers teach their daughters. She was looking forward to the birth of their first grandchild and becoming "Glam Ma."

Chan was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and recently became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church, Star, Mississippi, where her husband is also a member. Next to her relationship with God, Chan enjoyed spending time with family.

Chan leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Reece Gayden; daughter, Amanda Rose; mother, Yvonne Skiffer; sisters, Deborah Skiffer-Talton of Pearl, Mississippi, Sharon Skiffer-Lindsey (Raynard), and Karen Skiffer-Bowman, both of D'Lo, Mississippi; nieces, Aleighsha Talton, Caitlyn (James) Burton and Kyra Lindsey; nephews, Michael Talton, Justin Singh, Joshua Lindsey, Daniel (D'Lo) Bowman, Dominic Bowman and Jonathan (JJ) Robinson; as well as a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and great nieces and nephews.

Chan was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Skiffer; sisters, Irma (Lyn) Skiffer and Danielle Robinson and both sets of grandparents. There was one brother, Mark, who was still born.
