With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dora Overby-Sullivan, a loving and devoted mother,
wife, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on Friday morning, August 24, 2019.
Dora was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with
them. She especially loved her role as Granny. She had a vivacious sense of style and a personality that
always made people around her feel welcomed and loved.

Born October 1, 1958, to the late Howard Overby and Aline Walker-Overby she was a lifelong resident of
Mendenhall, Mississippi. At an early age, she joined the Rock Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church where she
was church secretary, sang in the Senior Choir, and served faithfully in various church auxiliaries. She was
united in matrimony to Truvilian Smith, Sr., in June of 1995. Dora loved to love on people, and she dedicated
her life to her faith, her family, and her community.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her dear husband Truvilian Smith, Sr.; her devoted
children, Tahana Johnson, (Reverend Mark A. Johnson, Sr.) of Mendenhall, Mississippi, Tiffany Overby, of
Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Travaras Overby, of Laurel, Mississippi; Truvilian Smith, Jr, of Mendenhall,
Mississippi, Damon Robinson, of Braxton, Mississippi; her adoring grandchildren, Justin Overby, Aliyah
Overby, Madelyn Johnson, Emmanuel Johnson, Lincoln Overby, Halee Overby, Marcellous Shorter; her ever
-loving great-grandchildren Jayla Overby, Camden Overby; brother Johnny Howard Overby, (Marie Overby)
Taylorsville, Mississippi; and a host of loving relatives and friends. Your life was a blessing, your memory a
treasure, you are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
