Doya Maniece Lockhart
Doya Maniece Lockhart was one with the Creator; therefore, she was born in the beginning of time. In this world, she was born December 8, 1981, to the union of Doye and Joyce Langston. She grew up in Magee, Mississippi, and she was indeed a Mighty Trojan Warrior! Doya starred in track, was awarded the best member of the band and graduated from Magee High in 2000. After graduating high school, Doya attended Co-Lin Community College in Wesson, MS, where she was an Ambassador, a member of the Wolfpack band and an outstanding athlete on the fast-pitch softball team. Upon graduating from Co-Lin with a degree in music, Doya went on to Mississippi State University where she played proudly in the band for the Maroon and White!
Doya became saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age at Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) in Magee, MS, under the leadership of Pastor Bernard Grace. Doya utilized her gifts by teaching classes in church, evangelizing at countless churches and singing Spirit-filled selections that blessed each and every witness. After hearing Doya sing, an elderly man said, "For the first time in my life, today I heard from heaven." Her voice was just that powerful!
Along with becoming a licensed Gospel Preacher while serving as Minister of Music at House of Refuge Church International in Prentiss, MS, Doya served a prior stint as Minister of Music at Faith Tabernacle and a later stint as Minister of Music at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in D'Lo, MS. For a time, Doya was also Music President of MS Southern First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, District 11 C.O.G.I.C.
After marrying, Doya Lockhart joined Saint Mary MB Church in D'Lo, MS, where she hit the ground running. She was the Praise and Worship Leader at St. Mary and she "blew the doors and the roof off the church" Sunday after Sunday. Not long after Doya joined St. Mary, she and her husband accepted God's call of becoming Pastor and First Lady of Pearlie Grove MB Church; 1901 Shell Oil Rd; Brandon, MS. Doya loves God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; and likewise, Doya loved Pearlie Grove where she also served as President of Horne Mission.
Amazingly, with all her commitments at church, Doya worked full-time for 13 years at Boswell Regional Center in Sanatorium, MS. Although she worked several jobs at Boswell, her current one as shipping clerk was her favorite because Doya preferred to be active. Remarkably, through all the fiery trials life sent her way, Doya remained gainfully employed at Boswell.
Entering the 8th year of marriage, Doya departed this life Saturday, August 18, 2018. She was preceded in passing by her grandparents: Bedell and Mildred Langston (paternal) and Joe and Annie Hayes (maternal). To cherish her memories, Doya leaves her husband Ishmael Rahman Lockhart, her brothers Benjamin Langston and Rahim (Tarrah) Lockhart, her parents Doye and Joyce Langston along with E.C. Lockhart and Trudy Lockhart, her Pearlie Grove Church Family and a considerable host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and people near and abroad that were blessed by her powerful, booming voice from God! Doya Lockhart is a Lord loving, God fearing BOLD, FEARLESS WOMAN of VIRTUE! When the spirit of the Lord is upon you, Doya will always be right there.
