Obituary

Hebrew 9:27 says "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand." (II Timothy 4:6). "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing." (II Timothy 4:7-8).

Just in case someone comes to my funeral and didn't get a chance to know me, my name is Eric Lorenzo Vaughn. Just come on up to heaven maybe my address will be 231 Glory Lane, in Heaven, but if you can't find me there, I'll be singing somewhere up there. I was born August 30, 1968, to the late Early D. Vaughn and Louise Hailes Lindsey. I attended Ypsilanti City School, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Laurel City School in Laurel, Mississippi. While in the South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi, I rededicated my life back to the Lord, as my personal savior. You may talk about my past today, but God threw my past in the sea of forgetfulness, and only He knows my future.

I grew up with my four brothers and four sisters in Ypsilanti, Michigan and Laurel, Mississippi. We used to play together, sing together, pray together, and even tarry for the Holy Ghost together. I got off track, but was so grateful that God spared me a chance to make an intelligent decision to get back on track. I would call my brothers all the time just to tell them "I love you brother." I thank God for my sisters (Patricia and Paulette) for lending a helping hand."

Preceded in death before me was Early D. Vaughn, Sr., my father; Louise Vaughn-Lindsey, my beloved mother; two brothers: Early Vaughn, Jr. and Michael Vaughn; and two sisters, Linda (Alvin) Evans and Ella Mae Hailes. On August 14, 2018, I transitioned to my new home. I'm leaving my memories to carry on with my big brother, Jerry (Lola) Vaughn; and my little brother, J.B. (Becky) Lindsey; my big sister, Patricia (Ricky) Dotson; and my little sister, Paulette Vaughn. I'm leaving my memories also with 12 nephews & nieces (one nephew preceded in death, Tony Davis; as well as, one great nephew, T'Jordence Cha'zari Satcher), a host of great nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends.

I pray we all be ready when Jesus comes. It's not goodbye, but see you guys later, because I Thessalonian 4:13-18 tells us that we sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
