Funeral Program - Ever Jean Floyd
If love is as sweet as a flower, then Ever Jean Floyd was that flower. Sister Ever Jean Floyd (nee Hopson) was born in Florence, Mississippi, on March 22, 1946, to Irene and Edgar Hopson. She was an intelligent child, who excelled in her studies from an early age. She attended Rankin County Schools and graduated in 1964.
In the summer of 1965, on August 23rd, Sister Ever Jean married Glasco T. Floyd. To this harmonious union three sons were born, Michael Jerome, Brian Christopher, and Jeffery Oneal Floyd. They remained married for 58 faith, and spirit-filled years until his passing in 2024. She kept her household and raised her children on the strong foundation of God's word.
Sister Floyd accepted Christ as her savior on a spirit-filled Thursday in April of 1976. From that time on, she had been about the Lord's work. She was a diligent Pastor's wife, sharing her husband's time whenever the church called. Sister Floyd didn't grumble; she understood the calling. She was a respected Mission Bible teacher, a knowledgeable Sunday School teacher, and a melodic choir member. Sister Ever Jean went about the Lord's work helping wherever she was needed, and however she could. She never placed herself above anyone, or made anyone feel lesser than.
Sister Ever Jean was employed at Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield, Mississippi. For a brief time, she was also employed at Universal Industries, before returning to Mississippi State Hospital. It was there that she worked until her retirement after dutiful employment of 35 years!
Sister Ever Jean leaves behind to cherish her memory: her three sons, Michael (Synita) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Brian of Superior, Arizona, and Jeffery (Marissa) of Mendenhall, Mississippi. She also leaves two adopted sons, Jakobey of Hindsville, Georgia, and Jamour of Mendenhall, Mississippi. Sister Ever Jean was blessed to have eleven grandchildren, Michael's children – Michael Adrian Floyd, Mychal Sean Floyd, and Chelsi Alysabeth Floyd; Brian's children – Christianna Briann Floyd, Christopher Andrew Floyd, and Natasha Michelle Floyd; Jeffery's children – Jream O. Floyd, Marquell Floyd, Jaasiel Thomas Floyd, Milla June Floyd, and Christian Jamari Lewis; six great grandchildren, Christian, Julius, Amelia, Jordan, Gabriel and Ky'nyla Floyd.
Also revering her cherished memory is her sole remaining sister, Ms. Edna Bell Hill of Rankin County, Mississippi; brother-in-law, Tommy Lee Floyd (Helen) of Southaven, Mississippi; nieces, Kimberly Floyd-Anderson and Lisa Floyd; and a wealth of other great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Sister Floyd was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glasco T. Floyd; brother, Billy James Hopson; sister, Mattie Bell Seals; and precious granddaughter, Christianna Briann Floyd.
