Obituary

Georgia Mae Banks was born December 14, 1944, to Annie Lahmon and Alex Alford in Mississippi. Georgia knew the Lord at an early age and accepted Him as her Savior. She was a member of Greater Dry Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.

As a young adult, she moved to Illinois and had two children—Sandra Alford and Joe Alford. She worked for a long time for Jevon Cosmetics and retired as a Caregiver Supervisor from Arden Court Nursing Home.

Georgia was a very loving person. She dedicated years to taking care of her loved ones until she became ill. On February 21, 2023, God called her home to join her husband, Charlie; mother, Annie; daughter, Sandra; and brothers, Gabriel, Joe, James, Samuel, Rudolph, and Charlie.

Georgia leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Joe Alford; sisters, Sallie, Jo Ann, Lucille, and Jeanie; grandchildren, Chenise, Chelise, and Joseph, Jr.; great grandchildren, Adrian, Dallas, Serenity, and Syre; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
