Hattie Jane Newsome, the daughter of Anthony Strickland and Cora Lee Strickland, was born on July 17, 1930. Hattie Jane grew up in D'Lo, Mississippi and relocated to the Rose Hill Community of Rankin County, Mississippi after marrying Mr. Hubert Newsome. Hattie and Hubert's union was fruitful as they were blessed with eleven children.

Hattie Jane was a faithful member of the Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church for several decades. She loved her church and served in many capacities throughout the years. In recent years, she served as one of the church mothers. She will be greatly missed in the church and the community.

Hattie Jane loved her family. She received great joy from spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. This small stature of a woman leaves behind a legacy of four generations. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time with her friends.

On Saturday, April 15, 2017, Jesus placed His loving arms around Hattie Jane and whispered, "Come with Me." She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Newsome; one daughter, Kathylean Reed; three brothers and one sister.

Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the hearts of her ten children: H.L. (Sarah) Newsome of Brandon, Mississippi, Frankie Newsome, Betty (James) Dampier, Curtis Newsome, and Charlie Newsome, all of Mendenhall, Mississippi, Camilla (Bobby) Sullivan of Mt.
