Obituary

Henry Lee Riley

Henry Lee Riley was born August 29, 1951, to Ms. Ruthie Mae Kitchens and Mr. Levester Riley in Rankin County, Mississippi. Although these were his biological parents, he was reared by Lonnie T. and Mattie Kitchens in Mendenhall, Mississippi.

Henry graduated from Harper High School in 1970. He was a man who always worked and held down a job. Some of the places where he was employed were Multicraft, Valley Foods, and the City of Mendenhall, just to name a few. But the longevity of the Universal (Magnetek) Plant exceeded them all, he worked there for over 25 years.

Henry loved being around and entertaining family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and talking noise. He was known by some of his closest friends as "Henley." You very seldom saw him without a hat on, which seemed to be his signature trademark.

Henry leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted son, Darian L. Riley, Mendenhall, Mississippi; one brother, Levester (Clarine) Riley, Jackson, Mississippi; three sisters, Erma Stewart, Detroit, Michigan, Linda Riley, Mendenhall, Mississippi, and Sylvia Chaney, Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Amina Owens, Springfield, Massachusetts; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Riley, Mendenhall, Mississippi; one, sister-in-law, Johoney Washington, Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Ruthie Mae Washington and Levester Riley; his surrogate parents, Lonnie T. and Mattie Kitchens; two brothers, Jimmie and Roy Washington; and one son, Henry (Scooter) Riley.
