Mr. James Evans Baker was born on June 4, 1953, in Monticello, Mississippi, to the late James and Lucille Baker. He joined Pearl River Valley Baptist Church at an early age.  On November 12, 1974, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Evelyn Baker. Afterwards, he joined Rose Hill Church of Christ Holiness, U.S.A.

He received his education from Monticello High School. He worked over 35 years offshore. He also worked at R-Squared where he retired from in 2018. He was a person who never met a stranger and would give his last. He had a special way of greeting and helping people.

He departed his life on June 16, 2021. He had one daughter, Eloise Baker who preceded him in death and also one grandson, Charvis Coleman who preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted and loving wife, Evelyn Baker; three children, Incula Sampson (Lawrence Sampson) of Jackson, Mississippi, Byron Walker of Prentiss, Mississippi, and Patrina Baker of Pinola, Mississippi; one brother, Will Baker (Margaret) of Kissimmee, Florida; one sister-in-law, Catherine Walker of Pinola, Mississippi; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
