Funeral Program - Jessie Clyde "Do Right"
Jessie Clyde Thompson, affectionately known as "Do Right," was born on May 18, 1944, to the late Annie Thompson and Jack Clyde Lockett, Sr. On August 30, 2025, at the age of 83, Jessie peacefully departed this life and entered eternal rest.
A gifted guitarist and electric blues musician, Jessie's talent and artistry captured the very soul of the genre. Though he never read a single note of music, he was blessed with the extraordinary ability to play beautifully by ear. His voice, his music, and his spirit blessed countless lives across the country, leaving behind melodies and memories that will live on forever.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Annie and Jack Lockett; four sisters, and nine brothers; two aunts and two uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memory two loving sisters, Suenelle Brownfield, and Ruby D. White; his ten children: Kathy and Willie Daniels, Sammie and Lorraine Walker (of Los Angeles, California), Jessica Garner, Connie Davis, Red, Jeanette Jones, Delaine and James Denson (Mendenhall, Mississippi). Jessie is also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
Jessie shared 40 years of love and companionship with the late Kathy Annette Garner, a bond that was cherished.
Jessie attended Harper High School. In his younger years, Jessie was a devoted member of True Bible Way. For the past 25 years, he faithfully continued his Christian walk with Mendenhall Bible Church, where he uplifted others with both his faith and his music.
Jessie's favorite scripture was Psalm 23. He dedicated his life to being a blessing to others, spreading joy through his music, his laughter, and his kind heart. Jessie never believed in making enemies—only friends.
He was a wonderful father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. His legacy of love, music, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Jessie was truly a blessing to have in all of our lives, and he will be deeply missed.
