Keyjerris "KJ" Durr Funeral Program
KeyJerris Montez Durr, better known as "KJ", was born to Trena Durr and Johnny "Chico" McCollum in Collins, MS, on January 24, 1997. He departed this life on April 17, 2024, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.
He was baptized at an early age and joined St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Larry Bouie. During his youth, he also attended Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church and participated in various programs and sang in the youth choir.
KJ graduated from Magee High School in 2016 and attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for a semester before deciding to work full time. He worked in various states installing fiber optic cable. At the time of his death, he was employed with TelCom Construction.
KJ enjoyed rapping in his spare time. Music was his way of expressing his thoughts and feelings about his childhood, the death of close family members and police brutality. KJ loved to make people laugh. Although he was often seen as the class clown, he was a very private person. If he allowed you in his life, there must have been something special about you. He was very fond of his Aunt Sheletta and Uncle Michael.
His memories will live forever in the heart of his parents; two brothers, Treyvian Durr and Tyreek Durr; one sister, Malia McCollum; grandmother, Mae Mikell; ten aunts, Dora McCollum, Essie Lou Thompson, Evonna Barnes, Joann Cooper, Nate' Mikell, Sarah Allen, Shalonda Rankin, Sheletta Buckley, Teresa Griffith and Veronica Daniels; eight uncles,Adrian Hayes, AJ McCollum, David McCollum, Jamie McCollum, Michael Buckley, Michael Hayes, Milton Burgessand Orlando Rankin; three great aunts; Gwen Polk, Jackie Morris and Tina Johnson; one great uncle, Donald Durr; and a host of cousins and friends.
