Funeral Program - Larry A. Blackwel l

Larry Andra Blackwell, Sr., affectionately known as "Blackwell," transitioned from this life on August 17, 2025, at his home in Mendenhall, Mississippi.

Larry was born on September 3, 1964, to Isadoria and Cleother (Hondee) Blackwell in Simpson County, Mississippi. As the youngest of five children, he lived a fulfilling life in Mendenhall, where he graduated from Magee High School in 1984. From a young age, he was a devoted member of Zion Hill Baptist Church under the late Rev. Irvin Keys.

Larry's work ethic was commendable; he spent many years working alongside his father, hauling pulpwood, and later served as a mechanic at D'Lo Auto Shop with his brothers. In 1993, he began working at Piney Woods School as a farm/groundskeeper, earning numerous awards for his dedicated service until health issues forced him to retire.

On December 8, 1990, Larry married his lifelong sweetheart, Lisa McGee. Together, they blended their families with love, welcoming four children: Juan, Andre, Kiauna, and Lee. Larry was a laid-back person who cherished the simple pleasures in life, including fishing, gardening, and cooking. He had a passion for watching old-school westerns and wrestling, and he enjoyed spending time on his porch, watching the world go by.

Larry is preceded in death by his son, Larry Blackwell, Jr.; his parents; a brother; and several beloved family members. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Blackwell; three sons; one daughter; and five grandchildren, along with a host of siblings, in-laws, and friends who will miss him dearly.
