Obituary

Mother Lena Mae Dixon was born to the late Alene Dixon and Bishop Russell on February 27, 1951, in Simpson County, Mississippi. Her mother, Alene Dixon; father, Bishop Russell; son-in-law, Gerrick Lee, as well as her grandparents, preceded her in death.

She was educated at Harper Vocational High School. She worked as a private caregiver for many years until her retirement. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Moriah Church of God in Christ. She served in the Church and her Community as a volunteer for the Mendenhall Friends of the Library and as a member of the Simpson County Federation of Democratic Women until her health failed.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Sandra Dixon of Mendenhall, Mississippi, Syretta (Michael) Johnson of Florence, Mississippi, and Adrian (Felicia) Dixon of Youngstown, Ohio; one brother, Robert E. (late Lurlene) Dixon; three sisters, Annie (James) Moffet of Taylorsville, Mississippi, Retha (Thomas) Walker, of Chicago, Illinois, and Bernita Dixon of California; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives. She had two special friends, Rachel Smith and Eva B. Johnson.
