Leonard Childress, the son of Dorothy Lee Ashford Childress and Willie James Childress was born on November 9, 195 6 . Af t e r a series of illn e sses, he was called from labor on July 21, 2021, at the age of 64.

At an early age, h e confessed his life t o Christ. He attended Nazareth Missionary Bapt i s t Churc h . He attended Har p e r High Sc h o o l in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Leonard served five (5) years in the Mississippi Army National Guard as a vehicle mechanic. Leonard wor k e d as a roofer at Sullivan Roofing until his health failed. He was affectionately known to family and friends a s "Deal. " He was a hardworking ma n . He was often the "go t o " to fix electronics and other household issues. Deal may have been a man of litt l e word s , but he lit up when he spent time with family and friends.

He was p r ec e de d in death by his parents; brother s , Will i e Charles Childress, Jerry Lee Childres s , and Willie Joe Childre s s; and s ister s , L u cy J e a n Childre s s, Dorot h y S h o rt y , and Minn i e Shorty.

He leaves to cherish and treasure his m e mories: his c hildren, Terrell Forest and Tiffany Forest; stepmother , Helen Childress; s i s t e r s , Shirley Burton (Darryle), Janna Mil l e r (Kenneth), and Debra Childress; a special daughter-in-law, Brenita White; stepbrothers; Eddie McDonald (Teresa) a nd Charles M c Donal d ; stepsisters, Mar g ar e t Jenkins (Otha), and G w e ndolyn Russell (Joshua); grandchildren, Timesha Forest, Timarius Fores t , Shakill Webster, Timmie Fores t , Shabrittney Forest, Ma h ' li k Fores t , and Morcedzs Rush, J r .; great grandchildren , Skylar Fores t , Khianna We b s t e r , Jordin Brown, and Khianna Webste r ; and a host of ni e ces, nephe w s, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and frien d s.
