Obituary

On June 22, 2018, at 7:12 a.m., our Saviour saw fit to call home His servant, Pastor ML Mack. He was born January 1, 1937 to Mr. MC and Mrs. Velma Taylor Mack (both preceded him in death). He departed this life at his home in Magee, Mississippi.

At an early age, he joined the Taylor Hill M.B. Church and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Arthur B. Davis. As a member of Taylor Hill M.B. Church, he taught the Young Boys Sunday School Class and later the older Deacons Class. He received his education from New Hymn High School, Pinola, Mississippi. Upon completion of high school, he married Earlean Showers and to this union ten (10) children were born. Three daughters, Velma, Polly, and Gwen; one son, Michael; two granddaughters, Nikki and Kina; one sister, Mary Moore; and one brother, WL, preceded him in death.

His life truly exemplified in every way a real godly man. He was a man after God's own heart. He meditated on God's word day and night and the praise of the Lord was continually in his mouth. He was called to the ministry in 1969. The Lord told him to go and tell men and women how He would have them to live and he has truly fulfilled his duty as a minister of God. But the time of his departure was at hand. He fought a good fight, he finished his course, and he kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give him at that day and not to him only but to all that love His appearing (II Timothy 4:6-8).

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth; sons, Jerry (Wanda), Suisun City, California; Melvin, Jr., Vallejo, California; James, Hayward, California; Ted (Haydee), Stockton, California; and Fred, Richmond, California; daughters, Connie (Conrad), Sacramento, California; Tammie (Mickey), Richmond, California; and Vickie, Oxon Hill, Maryland; stepchildren, Tonya (Donnell), Richland, Mississippi; LaToya (Damon), Terry, Mississippi; Kendrick, Oakland, California; and Belinda and Tamara, Mendenhall, Mississippi; brothers, Jr. Earl, Oakland, California; Troy (Fannie), Donnie (Rosa), and Danny (Dean), all of Pinola, Mississippi; sister, Betty Reams, Oakland, California; godson, Rev. Ricardo McNair, Purvis, Mississippi; goddaughters, Geneice McNair, Purvis, Mississippi; and Kasandra Grubbs, Magee, Mississippi; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

We loved you but God loved you best.
