On May 4, 2017, Marcus A. Byrd, 31, of Harrisville, Mississippi was called home to the Lord.

Marcus A. Byrd was born on March 28, 1986 to Mr. Charlie and the late Margie Byrd (Weathersby). At an early age, he united with Mt. Salem Baptist Church in Harrisville, Mississippi. He attended Simpson County Schools and graduated from Mendenhall High School in 2004. During high school, he was well loved as a classmate and friend and was the state champion in weight lifting in his senior year. He attended Co-Lin and Holmes Community Colleges to follow his passion of playing football. Later in life, Marcus attended KLLM Trucking School to become a truck driver. His trucking handle was "Big Country."

Early in life, Marcus chose the love of his life, Misty Robinson, to whom he later married. Their union was blessed with a son, Marcus A. Byrd, Jr. Marcus was proud to say that he was a father of four—Derrick Collins, Jr., Destiny Collins, Sa'derricka Collins and Marcus A. Byrd, Jr.

Marcus was preceded in death by his lovely mother, Margie R. Byrd.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his loving wife, Mistry Byrd of Canton, Mississippi; his children: Marcus, Jr., Derrick, Destiny, and Sa'derricka; his father, Mr. Charlie W. Byrd of Harrisville, Mississippi; one sister, Lassandra Harrison (Tonie) of Oswego, Florida; two brothers: Alex Byrd (Shawanna) of Pinola, Mississippi and Aaron Byrd (Naki) of Byram, Mississippi; four nephews: Tramell, Tyree, Derante Weathersby and Alex Byrd, Jr.; four nieces: Tanihya Weathersby, Alexus and Shyraven and Aubrianna Byrd. He will be greatly missed by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
