Obituary

Marvin Spencer Harris was born February 22, 1945, to Gladys and German Harris in Lexington, North Carolina. He was a member of Union Baptist Church where he was baptized and served in the choir. As a young adult, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, and worked a long time for Chicago Transit Authority where he met his wife Sallie. They retired to Magee, Mississippi, in 2005.

Marvin was the "life of the party" kind of guy that never met a stranger. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He encouraged many to live the exact life that they desired, because he sure did, take it or leave it. Marvin, also known as Peanut, better known as Popi, will be missed near and far.

Marvin was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Harris; father, German Harris; brothers, German "Jack" Harris and Roland Harris; and sister, Mollie Mason.

Marvin leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Sallie Harris; brother, Melvin Harris (Dolly); sons, Richard Todd Harris, Gregory Lahmon, and Charles Lahmon (Christie); daughter, Roxanne Lahmon; grandchildren, Richard, Jr., TJ, Tevin, Lanette, Sarafina, Savian, J'kai, Eli, Anna Lisa, and Ziriaha; great grandchildren, Grayson, Taylor, Audrix, and Adoree; a host of cousins, nephews, friends; and a special niece, Geraldine Johnson.

Marvin's life was one of giving and sharing; coupled with patience and kindness. Many are they, who have benefitted from his innate attributes, which have left an indelible impression upon the hearts and lives of those who were privileged to share his love and friendship. He loved life and his tenacious drive relentlessly pushed him to do more so that others might have to do less.

On Thursday, May 18, 2023, the anxious efforts of physicians, technicians, and attendants at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, gave way to the will of the 'GREATEST PHYSICIAN" who gave Marvin birth into eternity.

"...Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Job 1:21
