Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,  I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Mary Katherine Holman was born July 25, 1941, to Jenora and Magnolia Black in Pinola, Mississippi; the second oldest of six girls born to this union.  She transitioned from this life on Monday, March 8, 2021.  Kathy attended New Hymn High School graduating in 1958 as class Valedictorian.  She furthered her education at the Los Angeles Harbor College and California State University Dominquez Hills. She worked 22 years at Children's Hospital, Los Angeles and closed her career at the University of Mississippi Medical Center Pediatrics' Emergency Department in Jackson Mississippi. Her dedication to her craft was immeasurable. She joined the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, where she served as President of the Usher Board.  Kathy was always willing to do whatever she could for anyone, whether family, friends or even strangers. She always wore that smile, and used the expression, "Don't worry about it."

She leaves to cherish her precious memories a daughter, Sherry (Lloyd) Bearden of La Habra, California; a son, Raynard Holman, Sr. of Represa, California; four grandchildren, Raynard Holman, Jr., Hanford, California, Brianna (Cedric) Kimp, Mendenhall, Mississippi, Amandla Bearden and Christin "Baby" Bearden of Lakewood, California; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy J. Carter, Harrisville, Mississippi, Evelyn J. (Howard) Simon, Cerritos, California, Carolyn (Henry) Carter, Terry, Mississippi, and Gwendolyn Lucas, Pinola, Mississippi; a very special friend of many years, Charlie Hollins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jenora and Magnolia Black and sister, Vera Lois Davis.
