Mary Lee Magee was born to the union of Mattie and Reverend Frank Walker. She grew up in Mendenhall, Mississippi, with her six siblings.

She married Junior Magee on August 26, 1947, in Mendenhall, Mississippi. She completed her eighth-grade education at Harper High School. After school, she went on to start her career at Magnetek. After her time there, she spent the remaining time working at Mendenhall High School, where she retired after working there for more than ten years. Though she did not have any biological children of her own, at the age of 69, she traveled to Chicago, Illinois, and took on the role of Mother/Grandmother for her "Grandson," Arther Walker.

At a young age, she was baptized at Greater Dry Ridge M.B. Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi. After she married, she later became a member of St. Peter M.B. Church of Magee, Mississippi, where she was an usher and a member of the motherboard until her health started failing her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Junior Magee; both parents, Mattie and Frank Walker; and all her siblings.

She leaves behind her only son, Arther Walker (Mendenhall, Mississippi); her godchildren, Daryl McDonald (Magee, Mississippi), Casandra Berry (Houston, Texas), Mark Hines (Greenville, Mississippi), Hertie Griffith (Magee, Mississippi), Emma Magee (Mendenhall, Mississippi), and Laura Stewart (Mendenhall, Mississippi); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
