Nannie Lee Merriman

Feb. 26, 1945 - June 1, 2020

Nannie Lee Merriman was born on February 26, 1945, in Mendenhall, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Mr. Bilbo Jennings and Mrs. Audrey Corina Thames Jennings. She was one of 14 children and was educated in the Simpson County School System.

Nannie Lee was the wife of Mr. Bobbie Jo Merriman and the mother of four children. For most of her life, she was a housewife. However, to help provide for her family, she worked as the secretary for her husband's plumbing company.  She was a member of Eternal Life Community Church until its closure. The devoted mother and grandmother never got tired of "mothering." She was always concerned about her offspring and was known to verbally chastise her grown children in order to keep them in line. She was a dedicated caregiver to her husband during his illness. Since the birth of her great grandchildren, she began collecting the state quarters and $2 bills.  It was her desire for each great grandchild to have a set of quarters.

Nannie Lee was an active person and assisted with inside and outside chores such as mowing the yard. She was called home by the Lord on Monday, June 1, 2020, in Florence, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Robbie Daughtry.

Nannie Lee is survived by her two sons, Rick and Randy "Bo" Daughtry from Florence, Mississippi; her daughter, Rhonda Houghton from Caldwell, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three siblings, Sue Peavey, Brenda Thompson and Timmy Jennings.
