Naomi
Rhodes
Jun 19, 1918 — Feb 19, 2021
Magee
Mrs. Naomi Rhodes, a resident of Mendenhall, Mississippi transitioned to her eternal reward on Friday, February 19, 2021, at the glorious age of 102.
Loved by so many, Ms. Naomi entered this world on June 19, 1918, to parents, Mr. Joe Lyles and Mrs. Janie Moncrieff Lyles of Bay Springs, Mississippi. At an early age, Ms. Naomi accepted Jesus the Christ as her Savior and the Son of the living God. Throughout her life, she never withdrew her belief and faith in God. She demonstrated her faith and love for God in her everyday living and treatment of others.
Many would say that Ms. Naomi was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. The Scripture says, "Who can find a Virtuous Woman?" The late LC Rhodes was blessed to find one in Naomi. They were married for over 58 years until his death in October 2001. She and the Late LC Rhodes built a family on biblical teaching as they were members of Rock Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She did him and her family good and not evil. She too helped provide for her family. Proverbs 31: 24 states, "She maketh fine linen and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant." Ms. Naomi was a well-known seamstress in the community. Without patterns, she would make attire from looking at the clothing from the Sears Roebuck Catalog.
Their three children: son, Jessie (Connie) Rhodes; daughter, Mary Ann Berry; and son, Willie Rhodes always felt blessed because of the loved she gave to them. As stated in Proverbs 31:26, "She openeth her mouth with wisdom: and in her tongue is the law of kindness." Her grandchildren Vanessa Oddoffin, Maxine Berry, Jessie (Stephanie) Rhodes, Jr., J. Lagretta (Mark) Reynolds, Ron (Shannon) Rhodes, Naomi (Woodrow) Tillery, and Tisha (Lenard) Barnes are all witnesses to her wisdom and kindness throughout their summer visits and other holidays celebrations. Ms. Naomi was blessed to witness the birth of eleven (11) great grandchildren and six (6) great-great grandchildren.
Ms. Naomi leaves not only her children and grandchildren to cherish her memories but also nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
"Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fearth the Lord, she shall be praised." Proverbs 31:30
