Pinola
Otis Smith was born on June 26, 1927, to Katie Mae (Kitchens) Smith and Reese Smith, Sr. He began his educational journey at Shiloh Elementary School. He gave his life to Christ at an early age. He attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and later
joined True Bible Way (now known as Pillars of Truth) until his health began to fail.
Otis was united in marriage to the late Margaret Hamilton Smith, and to this union, eight children were born. On January 6, 1994, he married Rella Mae Jackson-Smith. They were married until his death.
Otis loved watching westerns, going on his daily runs to the post office, eating Popeyes chicken and Berry's Seafood. He also
enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Otis leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rella Mae Smith, seven daughters, Mable (Charlie) Whitlock, Martha Rogers, Katie (Milton) Dampier, Carolyn Ann (Edward K.) Jackson, Mothanez (aka Dorothy Ann) Smith, Sylvia Diane (Jimmy) Feazell, and Sheila (Michael) McGee; three sons, Edward (Phyllis) Smith, Melvin Danny Otis Smith, and Meko Jackson; and one sister, Vernell (Roy) Edwards. He was the proud
grandfather to a host of grands, great grands, and great great grandchildren.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Otis Earl Smith, Lee Kenneth Jackson, and Daryl Jackson; and six siblings, Elnora Price-Gibson, Retha Mae Williams, Mary Lou Gardner, Reese Smith, Jr., Alfred Smith, and Edmond Smith.
