Patricia
Durr
Oct 3, 1959 — Feb 22, 2023
Mendenhall
Patricia Deloris Durr, affectionately called Pat, moved to her heavenly home on February 22, 2023. To sum up Pat's life in only a few paragraphs would be an impossible task – but one we're still willing to try. She was born to Mamie Harris and Charles Rodgers in Chicago, Illinois on the crisp fall day of October 3, 1959. Her favorite hobbies as a child were playing with her cousins, who were like siblings, and getting into all kinds of mischief. Pat was known as one of the most outspoken, funniest, and loving people you could meet.
Pat was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She married Jerry Durr at an early age and raised eight children: Sabrina (Anthony) Simpson, Chequita Durr, Mamie Durr, Faith Durr, Jessica (Milton) Durr, Kaneka (Jamal) Jackson, Robert (Florenda) Durr, and Jerry (Monifa) Durr, Jr. Her love for her family was boundless and she devoted her life to providing for them.
In addition to her children, Pat had a special place in her heart for her grandsons, Daishaun, Dailen, Javion, Jayton, Judah, Jabraylen, and Jamal (JJ) and her granddaughters, Dasia, Justice, and Mikayla. Her love for them was immeasurable and they brought immense joy to her life.
Pat was also a cherished sister to her brothers, Greg (Cheryl) Dampeer, Jeff (Stella) Harris, Danny Harris, and Charles Rodgers, and her sister, Brenda Dampeer. She was always there to support her siblings in good times and bad.
Pat's unwavering faith was a guiding force in her life and she regularly attended Greater Dry Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. She instilled this same love for God in her children, passing on the importance of faith to them.
Though she faced challenges with her health, Pat never lost her love for life, travel, and spending time with her loved ones. With her special group of friends, she enjoyed playing cards and sharing laughter and good times. Her amazing friend, Levester Walker, was her right hand and looked out for her every day. He was definitely her ride or die. Pat was also deeply connected to her beloved Great Aunt Bonnie McCollum. Pat truly leaves a village of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who mourn her memory.
Pat will be deeply missed by all those who knew her and her legacy will continue through the love and memories she leaves behind. We take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones including her parents, grandparents, beloved aunts and uncles, sister-in-law, cousins and friends.
