Jr
Nov 17, 1935 — Apr 19, 2020
Mendenhall
Robert Dampeer "Jr." was born November 17, 1935, to the late Webb and Bertha Dampeer in Simpson County, Mississippi. He departed this life on April 19, 2020, at home.
At an early age, he joined Dry Ridge M.B. Church. He attended Madison School in Simpson County. At the age of 16, Robert moved to Chicago, Illinois, with his sister, Velma Sterling. In 1958, he was united in marriage to Ms. Annie Lofton. To this union, five children were born.
He lived in Chicago for over 20 years. After returning to Mississippi, he reunited with the Greater Dry Ridge M.B. Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi.
Robert was a natural at farming. He raised crops to keep food on the table. He believed that a man should work and provide for his family. In between farming, he worked at the Universal Plant, later known as Magnetek, in Magee, Mississippi, where he retired.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: two sons, Michael Dampeer of Louisville, Kentucky and Anthony (Beverly) Dampeer of Miami, Florida; three daughters, Robin Dampeer Neal, Janet Dampeer and Coretta Dampeer-Toney, all of Miami, Florida; three grandchildren whom he raised, Anthony "Jr." Dampeer, Brittany Dampeer and Jason Cooper; nine grandchildren, seven great grands; two brothers, Willie Ray (Joyce) Dampeer, Wilmon C. (Marilyn) Dampeer; one sister, Bonnie McCullum, all of Mendenhall, Mississippi; a special and dear friend, Levester "Ashy Cat" Walker, who checked on him daily; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Seven sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
