Rosa Marie
Mack
Dec 18, 1940 — Nov 30, 2022
Pinola
Rosa Marie Rodgers was born December 18, 1940, in Simpson County, Mississippi. She was the oldest child born to Josephine Rodgers. She was preceded in death by several siblings: Lawrence, Jr., Ruby, Josie Mae, and Louise.
Rosa graduated from New Hymn High School in Pinola, Mississippi, and later went on to attend Jackson State University and obtain her Master's Degree. Upon graduation from high school, she married her former spouse, who preceded her in death. To this union, they chose from all among others, a loving daughter, Zipora (Cecil). She was later blessed to marry Donnie Ray Mack in June of 2000. Therein, she obtained another devoted daughter, Rosie Diane (Mark) Rhodes.
As a teenager, she attended James Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with her grandparents. Later, she went on to join Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church, and then Taylor Hill Missionary Baptist Church once she married Donnie Ray Mack. Rosa has always worked tirelessly in the church in any position where she was needed. She was initially employed at Packard Electric, later, she worked at Travelers Insurance. Finally, she retired from Jackson State University where she was a computer programmer.
Rosa was a woman of great wisdom. She always gave sound advice and lent a helping hand to those in need. She extended her service to many. She always took time out to explain, teach, or just listen. She was a joy to be around and always had a warm smile. Rosa was a pillar of the community and a true example of Christian stewardship.
Rosa Mack will be greatly missed, not just by her family and friends but everyone whom she has encountered during her life course. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Donnie Ray Mack; two daughters, Zipora Martin-Brown (Cecil) and Rosie Diane Rhodes (Mark); five grandkids, David, Kaleb, Lindsey, Markeisha, and Mark, Jr.; three siblings, Glenn Walker (St. Louis, Missouri), Betty Thornton (Mendenhall, Mississippi) and Melvin Berry (Magee, Mississippi); three great grandchildren, Rhyan, Tyler, and Zoey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
