Obituary

Beautiful she was and beautiful she will forever be….The most precious "Rose" God placed on Earth.

Rosie Marie White Camper known to many as (Mama, Mama Rose, Grandma, Roe, Ree and Marie) was born on September 3, 1947, to the late Theodore Roosevelt White and the late Gretha Mae Blue in Ethel, Mississippi. They later made Mendenhall, Mississippi their home.

Rosie was the eldest child.  She had ten siblings; nine sisters and one brother. Rosie accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a very early age and taught her children and grandchildren the importance of having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Rosie attended Harper High School in 1967. As a single mother with her daughter Jeanette by her side, she met and married Willie Estus Camper in 1965. Through this union, six sons were born: John Glen, John Willie, Clifton, Darrin, Larry (Terry) and Stephone.

Rosie was a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in D'Lo Mississippi. She later moved her membership to St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Braxton Mississippi. She was a very active and faithful member serving in the Adult choir, Sunday School Teacher, Mission, Kitchen Coordinator, and calling and visiting the sick and shut in. She was a true pillar of the community.

Rosie worked for Universal Plant (Magnetek) in Mendenhall, Mississippi for 35 years. After retirement, Rosie worked for Kansas City Southern Railway Company in Richland, Mississippi. She later obtained certification for home health care and worked as a Direct Care Worker. She worked for First Choice Homemaker Services until her death.

Rosie enjoyed being with her family and friends. She especially loved her Rho Iota Zeta Amicae Auxiliary. She was named Amicae of the year for 2020. She served as their treasurer. She was very dedicated and active for many years. Rosie was also a member of the A. Philip Randolph Institute.  She had a passion for gardening and flowers. She loved a good bargain. One could always find her at any time of the day at Dirt Cheap. You would never see her without a very fancy and stylish hat on her head. She was always dressed sharp with jewelry from head to toe.

Rosie is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Estus Camper; her parents, Theodore Roosevelt White and Gretha Mae Blue; her stepfather, Willie Lee Blue; her baby brother, Larry D. McLaurin and two nephews, Rodney and Ivory White.

On Tuesday, September 8, 2020, she watched the sun set from Heaven and was rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her seven children, Jeanette White Martin, John Glen Camper, John Willie Camper, Clifton T. Camper (Aretha), Darrin F.
