Obituary

On January 27, 1946, Rosie Lean "Bobbie Jean" McCadney was born to Haney and Georgia Mae Taylor McCadney in Pinola, Mississippi.  She was reared with love, discipline, and a strong work ethic surrounded by siblings, cousins, classmates, and dear friends.  Bob accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Taylor Hill Baptist Church in New Hebron, Mississippi. Yes, she is affectionately known as "Bob" to all of her family and friends prior to marriage.

Bob received her formal education through the Simpson County School System and graduated from New Hymn High School in 1965. While in school, Bob enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in plays/productions, played basketball, and excelled in home economics. Bob continued her education at Prentiss Institute. In her younger days, she lived in Los Angeles and New Orleans before settling back in Simpson County, Mississippi. Bob began her career at Universal Manufacturing Corporation (Magnetek) and remained there for more than 25 years.  Upon retirement, she then worked at the Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield where she retired in 2009. While working at both Magnetek and Whitfield, Bob met many amazing people. One very special person she encountered was a suave, savvy, good-looking gentleman by the name of John Kenneth Perkins!

On June 17, 1972, John and Rosie joined in Holy Matrimony on her parents' front porch officiated by Reverend William Albritton. This God-fearing, hardworking, community serving couple raised three smart and beautiful daughters: Daphne Denise, Tracy, and Johnifer. They were a party of five. Life changed for John and Rosie on July 29, 2013 upon the birth of their only grandchild, Sydney Rose! Sydney was the apple of their eye and if you had any communication with either of them, they had something to say about their grandbaby! Rosie was a faithful wife in every sense of the word. She loved and cared for John until death did they part.

Rosie loved to serve others, it was a part of her DNA…giving came naturally to her. After marriage, Rosie moved her church membership to St. John Baptist Church in Braxton, Mississippi. Rosie loved to sing in the choir…she was a mean soprano! She also served in the Mission and Food Ministry where she served until her health prevented it. While spending time with her daughters and granddaughter in Houston, Texas, Rosie enjoy attending The Church Without Walls with Pastor Ralph D. West.

Her service did not stop at St. John, her love for community service shined through with her participation with the Civic Circle Club for many years. Also, Friend Rosie is a charter member of the Zeta Amicaes of Mendenhall, an auxiliary of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Rho Iota Zeta Chapter. Friend Rosie has served as President, Parliamentarian, and Assistant Secretary. Rosie had a unique love for food service and presentation. She tinkered with catering for many years in her spare time and was an avid seamstress.

Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth; parents, Haney and Georgia McCadney; and siblings, Sonny (Dilla) and Ruby Jean.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three amazing daughters, Daphne Denise, Tracy, and Johnifer; one granddaughter, Sydney Rose; siblings, Clara Lee Gales, Ray Charles (Ann) McCadney, Christine Carter, Linola Spann, Wilroy McCadney, and Author McCadney; extended family and friends that cared for her dearly, Billy and Doris Perkins, Clint Perkins, Rose Marie Camper, Jean Perkins, Evelyn Holmes and Cleo Franklin. Rosie was also loved by a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and surrogate daughters.
