Obituary

Sallie Mae Dampeer Funeral Program

Sallie Mae Dampeer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, lived a life filled with love, dedication, and joy from her birth on November 29, 1949, in Simpson County, Mississippi, until her passing on November 9, 2024, at the age of 74.

As the cherished daughter of Maggie Lee Edwards and James Edwards, Sr., Sallie embraced family values and instilled them in her own family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, James Earl Dampeer, and together they nurtured a loving family that includes their two daughters, Claudette Dampeer (James) and Marquita Dampeer (Kiya). Sallie's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Shakya, Tamarial, Mianna, Thailan, and Jaeveon Dampeer, as well as her five adored great-grandchildren.

Sallie was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Dampeer; siblings, Bettie Lindsey, Charles Davis, James Edwards, Jr., David Edwards, and Matthew Edwards. She is survived by Ann Lindsey (Nell), Mary Edwards, Diana Edwards (Tommy), Roy Edwards (Vernell), Jeffrey Edwards (Shanta); two daughters; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, she held various jobs and dedicated many years to her career at Hydro Aluminum. However, as her health declined, she embraced her role as a nurturing housewife. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Sallie's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. We celebrate her life and the beautiful memories she created with us. Rest in peace, dear Sallie. You will be deeply missed and always loved.
