Samuel D. Thurman was born December 10, 1980, to Mr. John & Mrs. Mary Thurman. He departed this life on August 9, 2019, at Magee General Hospital, Magee, Mississippi.

Samuel married Letoria Crain on September 15, 2007. To this union, two children were born.

He worked many years as a mail carrier then as a detention officer. He spent a lot of his time with the pee wee football team where he was known as "Coach Sam."

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Letoria Thurman of Mendenhall, Mississippi; his daughter, Sakhyjia Thurman and his son, Jarvis Cooper, both of Mendenhall, Mississippi; his mother and father, Mr. & Mrs. John Thurman of Mendenhall, Mississippi; four sisters, Merica M. (Andre) Horn of Gulfport, Mississippi, Brenda (Bruce) Seals and Avis Grant, both of Mendenhall, Mississippi, and Teresa (Wayne) Wheeler of Jackson, Mississippi; five brothers, Emanuel (Kristy) Thurman, Eric (Virginia) Thurman, and Lee Williamson, all of Mendenhall, Mississippi, Wiley (Christina) Thurman of Denver, Colorado, and Jonathan Thurman of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Tyrone (Mashay) Crain and Monti Crain of Jackson, Mississippi; two godchildren, two uncles, and two great aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
