SHELBY LEE PATTERSON
Shelby Le e Patterson was born on May 13, 1949, to Mr. T.J. Patterson and Mrs. Ossie Magee. Shelby answered a called that could not be ignored, departing this life on March 9, 2019.
He was educated in the Magee Mississippi School System. At an early age, Shelby joined St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church. His favorite song was "Amazing Grace." He was a jack-of-all-trades—master mechanic, truck driver, supervisor and construction worker. He moved to Detroit, Michigan and landed a job with Chrysler Corporation. He held down that position for 16 years before retiring.
Shelby had a great love for people and a great respect for his family. He was willing to give the very shirt off his back to help someone else. We celebrate his life because he did things his way—a true hustler and "Triple G" as he would say.
Shelby leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Roxie V. Patterson; two sons, Danny Hubbard and Shelby Lee Pearson, Jr.; one daughter, Sophia Harper; 14 grandkids, 18 great grandkids; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Jean McCollum of New York, Mrs. Almetta ( Huelon ) Berry of New York and Mrs. Willie Mae (John L.) McNair of Magee, Mississippi; three brothers, Mr. Wardell (Minnie) Durr of Erie, Pennsylvania, Larry Patterson of Magee, Mississippi, and J.W. Patterson of Magee, Mississippi; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Jeweline and Annie Mae Patterson; brothers, Elmer and Vedell Patterson; and grandson, James Hubbard.
