Obituary

On Saturday, June 15, 2019, God called home his dedicated servant, Minister Thomas William Moore. He was born the oldest of three children on May 24, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois to "T.J." and Mary L. Moore. His father, "T.J." preceded him in death.

Thomas joined the Zion Hill M.B. Church at an early age. He was a musician at many churches and loved music. Thomas organized the Gospel group "The Heavenly Stars" and wrote many songs for this group. Later, he became a Baptist Minister. Thomas loved the Lord and enjoyed serving others.

Thomas attended schools in Chicago, Illinois and Magee, Mississippi where he graduated from high school. He was named Who's Who Among High School students; and received many basketball athletic awards including: Best Defensive Player, All Little Dixie Player, and Best Hustler. Afterwards, he attended The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) where he received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Social Work. Thomas was a very outgoing person who would never "give up." Thomas was also a USM alumni and member of the R.E.A.L. Christian Foundation. He really loved being a "Golden Eagle." He held a special place in his heart for USM.

Thomas had a great work ethic and was employed at many places including: Region 8 Mental Health Center, Charter Hospital, Simpson General Hospital, Mississippi Department of Human Services, Smith Crossing Water Association and Boswell Regional Center. At Boswell, he served for many years as a Licensed Master Social Worker and Director of Community Living Services/Director of Boswell group homes.

He leaves to celebrate his life: a very loving, faithful, and devoted wife of 29 years, Darlene Moore; two beautiful children, Thomas Q. (Julia) Moore, Dallas, Texas and Carmen Moore (Terrence Lynch), Hattiesburg, Mississippi; one grandson, Dalton Moore, Pearl, Mississippi; a very sweet and loving mother, Mary (Thomas "T.J."-deceased) Moore, Mendenhall, Mississippi; two sisters, Sherry Moore, Mendenhall, Mississippi and Shirley (Darrell) Dunning, Aurora, Illinois; two brothers, Wilbert (Sandra) Moore, Mendenhall, Mississippi and James Herbert McLin (deceased); two nephews, Calvin McLin and Trymel Moore; a loving mother-in-law, Mae Ruth Magee; father-in-law, Willie J. (Nell) Magee; sister-in-law, Vanessa (David) Hall; two brothers-in-law, Chris (Selena) Magee and Willie Magee, III; goddaughter, Kristasia (Tooboot) Magee; god brothers, Titus Mitchell and Cedric Johnson; a beloved family pet, Foxie; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." Psalm 23:6
