Obituary

Vera Lois Davis was born March 3, 1939 to Jenora and Magnolia Black in Pinola, Mississippi. She transitioned from this life on Friday, June 22, 2018. Lois attended New Hymn High School, graduating in 1958.   She joined the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where she served on the usher board, as custodian and on the kitchen committee; she remained a faithful member until her health began to fail.

She married Lemmie Roy Davis, Sr., in 1958 and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana; to this union four children were born. She was employed by Pinkerton Security for many years, moving back to Mississippi in the early 80's and was employed as a caregiver in Terry, Mississippi. She leaves to cherish her memories: children, Lemmie Roy Davis, Jr. of Jonesville, Louisiana; Denise Boozer of Lexington, South Carolina; James Theotis Davis of Pinola, Mississippi; and Charles Davis of Indianapolis, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; five sisters, Mary K. Holman and Dorothy J. Carter, Harrisville, Mississippi; Evelyn J. Simon (Howard), Cerritos, California; Carolyn Carter (Henry), Terry, Mississippi; and Gwendolyn Lucas, Pinola, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents Jenora and Magnolia Black. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
