Mr. Willie D. Sherman was born December 29, 1924 to Susie Washington and Jay Sherman in Collins, Mississippi.

Willie D. Sherman was a resident of Simpson County, Mississippi for many years. He provided for his family by farming and working in the pulp wood industry. He was kind hearted, so much so, that he left the disciplining of the children to Ms. Ora Lee. He was also a people person and would do whatever he could to help someone in need. Willie D., along with his siblings, enjoyed fishing, singing, telling jokes and spending time with family and friends. In later years, he served as the caregiver/babysitter for his grandchildren while their parents worked.

Willie D. departed this life on January 11, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Susie Washington and Jay Sherman; son, Jimmy D. Sherman; four brothers: M.C., Melvin, Joe and Claude Feazell; and two sisters: Mary Young and Mary Lee Jefferson.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Mrs. Ora Lee Sherman; four sons: Willie D. Sherman, Jr., Charles Sherman (Shawn), David Sherman (Jackie), and Willie Ray Smith; three daughters: Mary Taylor (Jerome Taylor deceased), Delores Fields (Vernon) and Ora Jean Perneal (Roy); one sister, Annie Ree Williams; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, and friends.
