Yvonne Skiffer was born to Louis and Irma Hayes on December 29, 1936, in Simpson County, Mississippi, the oldest of nine children. She graduated high school from Piney Woods School and completed one year of college at Prentiss Institute before marrying Eddie Skiffer on September 1, 1956. To this union, they welcomed six girls. Yvonne worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Mississippi State Hospital, Whitfield, Mississippi for many years before retiring in 2001. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Irma Hayes; husband of 62 years, Eddie; three daughters, Irma "Lyn" Skiffer (1988), Danielle Robinson (2003) and Chandra Gayden (2019); and brothers, Louis, Jr., Alvin, John and Larry Hayes; Those left to cherish her memories are sister, Joyce Hayes Baugh, Jackson, Mississippi; brothers, Charles Hayes, D'Lo, Mississippi, Ralph (Noel) Hayes of Hercules, California, and Roland "RL" Hayes of San Raphael, California; three daughters, Deborah Skiffer-Talton, D'Lo, Mississippi, Sharon Skiffer-Lindsey, D'Lo, Mississippi and Karen Skiffer-Bowman, Tavares, Florida; 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
